Born in La Paz Bolivia in May of 1976, Daniel Caballero (AKA Dany Krom) is an award winning photojournalist, who dropped out of college during his 4th year of Economic Studies, in order to pursue a career in photography; launching his career in 2005 whilst covering local newspapers and magazines. His passion for photojournalism grew, leading him to embark on a trip to Santiago, Chile where he completed studies in Photojournalism in the School of Communication and Image of the University of Chile after which he returned to his country in late 2008.  Dany contributed to FIDES News Agency and the British agency REUTERS, as a stringer.

 

In 2009 he founded the Bolivian photojournalism agency AFKA with his colleague and friend, where he fulfilled the role of Director. During this time, Dany was offered the distinct opportunity to work as the photographer of the Bolivian President Evo Morales, accompanying him on his trips within and outside the country, covering historical events such as Cop 15, and Evo’s Presidential Inauguration. Dany fulfilled this role through 2012.

Dany’s photos have been published in several Bolivian and international publications, including the book Bolivian Photography, selected as Photo of the Day by Reuters on several occasions, and in 2009 selected as one of the best photos of the year by Reuters.

 

Currently, Dany is a New York resident and develops projects as a freelance photographer. He develops stories of global interest, environmental impact and social conflict.
